Folding a filter paper cone so that it beds well down into the funnel creating a good seal when wet makes for an efficient filtration step.
Very often users will fold the paper cone with the same 60 angle.
Fold it in half as shown on the right.

Then it is folded again and creased to produce a quarter circle.
From left to right and top to bottom one first folds the round piece of filter paper in half and creases it.
Many conical filter funnels have an angle of about 60.
Now fold it again as shown on the right.
